About Us
The archway at the front of The White Bear is the biggest clue to our history, which dates back to the 18th century.
Back then in the 1700s, there were stables in the back yard, where weary travellers would rest their horses while staying over, most probably on their way, or from, nearby Stratford-upon-Avon, the town made famous as the home of William Shakespeare.
Today, we use the yard & garden for playing the most Cotswold of games - Aunt Sally - and for parking four and two wheels, of course.
Steeped in rich history, The White Bear is owned by one of England's oldest brewers, Donnington Brewery, who were founded in 1865 and own 19 pubs and establishments across the Cotswolds.
